Northwest Calgary Real Estate

With over 300,000 residents in Northwest Calgary, there is a wide variety of homes and price ranges to accommodate everyone. According to MLS stats, condos and townhouses in Northwest Calgary can range from $100,000 for a small apartment condo to $935,000 for a luxurious townhouse in the trendy Hillhurst area. House prices in NW Calgary can range all the way from $200,000 for a bungalow in Huntington Hills to $2.24 million for a newly built luxury home in Briar Hill.

The highest sale in Northwest Calgary was in 2008 in the community of Crescent Heights for $7.5 million. Crescent Heights in an inner-city community know for its spectacular views over the Bow River and Calgary's downtown skyline. The 6,800 square foot mansion, complete with six bedrooms and a rooftop hot tub, was purchased by Jim Shaw.

Northwest Calgary Recreation

Northwest Calgary is an outdoor enthusiasts dream with easy access to the spectacular Rocky Mountains, the Bow River and all its pathways, and of course world renowned Canada Olympic Park (COP). For those sports fans, Northwest Calgary is also home to University of Calgary (Olympic Oval), McMahon Stadium (Calgary Stampeder) and Burns Stadium (Calgary Vipers).

Northwest Calgary is also home to a number of public and luxurious private golf courses. The area is scattered with outdoor hockey rinks, tennis courts, basketball courts and a few outdoor swimming pools. Residents have access to such great facilities as the Crowfoot YMCA, a member-based facility offering health and recreation opportunies for people of all ages.

Northwest Calgary Shopping

Northwest Calgary has plenty to offer in terms of shopping with a variety of large outdoor strip malls and 3 large indoor malls, including the recently redeveloped Market Mall that features over 200 new fashion & lifestyle brand stores and upscale restaurants such as Moxies and Milestones. It is also home to a Zellers store that has recently been purchased by American giant, Target.

In the far north end, the newly developed Beacon Hill area offers residents access to such large chains as Costco, Home Depot and Canadian Tire. Closer to the Bow River is the trendy Kensington shopping district with over 250 unique shops, services and restaurants all within walking distance of each other. Every year, over 100,000 Calgarians come out to enjoy the Sun and Salsa Festival in Kensington, a day of music, dancing and salsa tasting.
