2016 Spotlight: NW Community of Arbour Lake

Arbour Lake is Northwest Calgary's only lake community, featuring a trout stocked, 10 acre lake, mountain views, and a plethora of parks and walkways. Located in the community is the brand new state of the art public high school, Robert Thirsk.

Recreation

Recreation opportuities abound in Arbour Lake, with swimming, boating, fishing, and skating areas and facilities to choose from. Within the community is also the newly built Crowfoot Library offering stunning mountain views and access to resources for learning, enrichment, and enjoyment. Walking paths, ravines, and greenbelts make this beautiful area a very walk-friendly community.

Schools

Arbour Lake School (Gr. 5-9) is a large middle school with over 800 students that strives to personalize learning for their students. A unique homeroom structure allows teachers to spend enough time with each student to recognize their potential. The school offers students the opportunity to explore many paths from fine arts to career and technology foundations. The Arbour Lake school is located at 27 Arbour Crest Drive NW. 403-777-7310.

St. Ambrose Elementary/Junior High School (K-9) provides a unique Catholic learning environment. The school is also part of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy. Students accepted into the program receive skill development training both on-ice and off- ice throughout the year. The school is located at 1500 Arbour Lake Road NW. 403-500-2100.

Access to downtown is also quick and easy via the Crowfoot LRT station.
