The Royal Oak shopping plaza is located on the North end of the community - with the anchor retailers of Walmart and Sobeys. Additional shopping is minutes away at both the newly developed Beacon Hill shopping district - with anchors such as Costco, Home Depot and Canadian Tire, and the Crowfoot shopping centre with Co-Op, Safeway, Rona, theatres and restaurants.

The Crowfoot LRT is also located here, and the LRT will be extended to another stop along the South end of the community. The newly built Stoney Trail ring road borders the East side of Royal Oak allowing for easy access to the Trans Canada Highway, Queen Elizabeth Highway (QE2) and Deerfoot Trail.
