Northwest Calgary is one of the largest quadrants in the City of Calgary with approximately 300,000 residents. It is known for its proximity to the mountains, hilly terrain, beautiful golf courses and suburban living.  It is also home to the University of Calgary, SAIT Polytechnic, and the Alberta College of Art, making it a great choice for those pursuing academic studies.  Northwest Calgary boasts panoramic views of the Mountains, Bow River and Canada Olympic Park.

It is also home to Nose Hill Park, considered one of the largest municipal parks located in Canada. Nose Hill Park is also known for its beautiful city and mountain views and numerous hiking areas. This can be a perfect spot for people who love to hike without leaving the City. The location is also perfect for picnics with family, friends or anyone who wants to spend their time with their canine friends as it’s also one of the largest off leash dog parks in Calgary.

Rocky Mountains

One of the reasons why Northwest Calgary is well known is because of the magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains. The altitude of the mountain ranges from 2,130 to 3,747 meters. A lot of residents have decided to live here to enjoy the majestic scenery. While you are having a luxurious lifestyle in your house, you can also go outside to enjoy the majestic Rockies.

Rivers

The Bow River also meanders through Northwest Calgary. The area of Bowness has spectacular lots backing onto the Bow River.  Homes in the area vary from newly built to old war time bungalows.  Communities such as West Hillhurst, Parkdale and Sunnyside are minutes from the Bow and have easy access to the running and biking paths that run alongside it.

Shopping Malls

If you are worried about shopping areas, Northwest Calgary has plenty of places where you can go shopping.  Market Mall, Northhill Mall and Northland Mall are the major indoor malls in the area and there’s a number of outdoor strip malls including Crowfoot Crossing and Beacon Hill.  Kensington is also located in the Northwest and has many unique boutiques and restaurants to choose from.
